Desalination of water refers to the effective removal or reduction of dissolved solid substances, suspended substances, organic matter, microorganisms, etc. in water through a series of process treatments, so that the quality of water reaches specific standards and is suitable for specific purposes. The treatment process of desalinated water needs to comprehensively consider factors such as water source quality, emission standards and the use of treated water.

The treatment process of desalinated water mainly includes three stages: pretreatment, main treatment and post-treatment. Pre-treatment mainly carries out preliminary treatment of raw water to remove large suspended solids, organic matters, etc.; the main treatment is to remove difficult substances in the water through further treatment methods, such as heavy metals, microorganisms, etc.; post-treatment is to make some adjustments to the treated water to meet specific water requirements.

First of all, the main goal of the pretreatment stage is to remove large suspended solids, organic matter, etc. in raw water. Common pretreatment methods include: aeration, that is, by introducing air or oxygen, the suspended solids in the water react with dissolved oxygen, and the suspended solids gradually coalesce and settle; flocculation, that is, adding flocculants to condense the suspended solids in the water into larger particles, which are conducive to sedimentation or filtration; sedimentation, that is, allowing the suspended solids in the water to naturally settle down and separate them from the water. In addition, pretreatment can also be carried out through methods such as sand filtration and activated carbon adsorption to further remove impurities in raw water.

In the main treatment stage, water can be treated by various methods to fully remove suspended solids, dissolved substances, organic matter, microorganisms, etc. Common main treatment methods include: membrane technology, including ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, etc.; activated carbon adsorption, which adsorbs organic matter, heavy metals, etc. to the surface of activated carbon; ion exchange, which replaces ions in water through resin adsorption to soften and remove heavy metal ions, etc. The purpose of oxidation methods, such as ozone, chlorine, etc., can kill microorganisms, remove organic matter, etc.; advanced oxidation technologies, such as ultraviolet ray, ozone and hydroperoxide reactions, can violently oxidize organic matter. One or more of these methods can be selected and used according to specific circumstances to achieve good processing results.

In the post-treatment stage, some adjustments and disinfection work are mainly carried out on the treated water to ensure that the quality of the water meets specific requirements. Adjustment can include adjusting the pH, hardness, dissolved oxygen, etc. of the water; disinfection is to kill remaining microorganisms and prevent water pollution from occurring again. Common post-treatment methods include adding chemicals to adjust, such as adding alkali, adding salt, etc.; disinfection can be carried out by ultraviolet irradiation, chlorine, etc.

In addition to the above-mentioned treatment methods and processes, the following points should be paid attention to achieve good results in desalinating water:

1. Select the appropriate desalinated water treatment technology, and select the appropriate treatment method and process flow according to the requirements of raw water quality and use.

2. Monitor the operation process in real time and adjust treatment parameters in a timely manner to ensure the stability and effectiveness of the water treatment process.

3. Maintain and maintain equipment regularly to prevent equipment damage and performance degradation.

4. Strictly implement operating procedures to ensure the accuracy and standardization of operations to improve treatment results.

5. According to specific water quality characteristics, reasonable pretreatment and post-treatment are carried out to obtain better water quality.

6. Conduct water quality assessment from multiple angles, including indicators such as physical properties, chemical composition and microorganisms, to comprehensively understand the water quality situation and guide subsequent treatment processes.

To sum up, desalinated water treatment methods and processes are diverse, and need to be selected and designed according to specific conditions. Through the comprehensive application of pretreatment, main treatment and post-treatment stages, good desalinated water treatment results can be achieved to meet people's different needs for water quality requirements.
